Yair Lapid in Wikipedia is described as an Israeli journalist, politician and writer, as well as a soldier, actor, screenwriter and film music creator, television presenter and boxer, leader of the group Is Future (Yesh Atid), member of the Knesset and Minister of Finance. As it turns out, the politician has recently missed the truth saying that his grandmother died in the Holocaust at the hands of Germans and Poles.

Polish Parliament adopted the act on the Institute of National Remembrance. According to it, a person who has committed the statement “Polish death camps” can be fined or even imprisoned. The law caused a wave of indignation in the Israeli government and the media. There were scandalous posts on Twitter, where they try to convince that the Poles bear some of the responsibility for the Holocaust.

I condemn the Polish law that attempts to deny Poland’s participation in the Holocaust. It was born in Germany, but hundreds of thousands of Jews were murdered without ever meeting a German soldier. There were Polish death camps and no law will ever change that

– An Israeli politician, member of the Knesset and former Finance Minister Yair Lapid wrote.

This entry met with criticism and a sharp response.

However, Lapid did not stop the. He unleashed the storm with his next entry.

I am the son of a survivor from the Holocaust. My grandmother was murdered in Poland by Germans and Poles. I do not need education about the Holocaust

– he wrote. He added that the Polish embassy should apologize immediately.

It came out that Lapid had missed the truth. Ten years ago he gave an interview for the German Spiegel. From the text we can learn that: his grandmother did not die in Poland.

Jacek Sierpiński wrote:

Former Israeli finance minister, Yair Lapid, wrote on Twitter that his grandmother “was murdered in Poland by Germans and Poles”.
Meanwhile, in 2008, he and his parents gave an interview for “Spiegel”, which (more precisely from the statements of his father, Tommy Lapid) shows that his grandmother on the father’s side survived the Budapest ghetto, and on the 17th birthday of his father came along with to Haifa.
Tommy Lapid recalls at the same time that on March 19, 1944, the Germans took his father – the Yair Lapid’s grandfather , and that he never saw him again. In another article from 2006, Tommy Lapid wrote that his father was taken to the camp in Mauthausen (means in Austria, not in Poland) and died there.
As for Yair Lapid’s second grandmother, in this interview for Spiegel, his mother, Shulamit Lapid, said her parents were from Romania and came to Palestine in 1934, and in 1948 she stayed at her parents’ home in Tel Aviv and together she listened with her neighbors to the radio belonging to her parents. From the context you can see that her mother – the Yair Lapid’s grandmother, survived the war. In fact, the Hebrew-language Wikipedia gives an information that Helen Giladi was her mother and that she died in 1974.
It seems, therefore, that both grandmothers and one of Yair Lapid’s grandparents survived the Second World War, and the second of the grandparents died in a concentration camp, but not in Poland. Is the former Israeli finance minister consciously publicly writing untruths about his family in order to throw mud on the Poles as murderers? If so, why?

– “Iron Logic” added:

From the words of his father, it appears that both grandmothers and one grandfather survived the Second World War. One grandmother is known to have died in 1974, grandfather only in 2009. From the words of Lapid’s Brother in another interview, we learn that the second grandfather probably died in the camp at Mauthausen, Austria.

So we have to deal with a perfidious liar who slanders our country. Poland should demand immediate explanations and apologies. In their absence, Lapid should be considered a persona non grata in our country. Enough slanders
